On a day in October, 2017, I decided to go on a run near my grandparents house. Fires were raging in the mountains of Colorado, which made the sun hazy and the sky pinkish. When looking at the sky, I decided that I had to paint it.

shipwreck

oil in canvas

20” x 16”

This painting was originally inspired by the shipwreck of Eduard Bohlen, on the Skeleton Coast of Africa. However, rather than try to embody the disastrous aura of a shipwreck, I decided to take it in a more pleasant direction. The painting attempts to portray the calm beauty of nature which is unfaltering regardless of the situation.
